Pavel Francouz was born on 3rd June 1990 in Pilsen, started his ice-hockey goaltender career in Pilsen, where later played 1st czech league in 2008/09 season in HC Lasselsberger Plzeň (next seasons HC Plzeň 1929). Few next seasons traveled among few clubs in 2nd czech league, mostly HC Ústečtí lvi and played one game for HC Oceláři Třinec in 1st czech league. He moved to HC Verva Litvínov next season (2012/13). In season 2014/15 he managed to win czech league with HC Verva Litvínov and moved to Russia to play season 2015/16 for Traktor Chelyabinsk in KHL.
Next season 2016/17 became the goaltender with the best save percentage in KHL. In season 2017/18 he managed to became the goaltender with the best save percentage in KHL for second time in a row and got award for the best goaltender in KHL while his team also became the runner-up of KHL that season. After his succesful season in KHL, he moved to Colorado where he was playing for Colorado Eagles in AHL before he became a steady player in NHL for Avalanche.
His first appearence in the national team was in 2006 for the national team U16. He continued to play for national teams U17, U18 and U20 next seasons. His first appearence in the A-national team was in season 2012/13 as a number 2 at World Championship. Then he appeared in the national team every year since. Last World championship Pavel Francouz participated was in 2019 in Slovakia. He participated in 6 Ice-Hockey World Championships so far and in 2018 played at Olympics in Gangneung, South Korea.
